What does your name mean? (first and middle)
My first name is from the Middle English for 'a heath or a shrub'. My middle name is Latin and means 'Divine'.
Are you named after anyone?
No. Mum and Dad picked my first name because it gave me a good Scottish first name to go with my good Scottish last name, and my middle name was because my mum liked it.
Do you have any favorite nicknames people have called you or you wish you had been called?
While in the Army Reserves, I got called 'Mac'. It was quicker than using my whole last name. I still get called that by Reserve colleagues who work at the casino.
My housemate in university called me macdonv ('mac-don-vee') because that was my uni email username. I must have liked it, because I use it just about everywhere!
If people don't get your name right, what is the name people are most likely to call you?
Denise, for some reason! I guess I look like a Denise.
Did you ever have a name that you wished was yours instead of the one you were born with/ given by your parents? If so, do you go by it now?
No. I was always perfectly happy with my name.
If you were ever to have a child/ have ever dreamed of naming a child/ have named a child, what are names you like/liked?
I remember liking the name Elizabeth an awful lot when I was around 7. It sounded very proper, and had so many nickname options. When I was in high school I went through a name phase where I had 30-name lists, ranked in order of preference, for any future children. Top girls were Dakota Lynn, and Jennifer Deane. Boys were Dallas Troy, and Fergus Todd.
Do those names mean anything?
Nothing I'd planned. I was just going for unique and individual.
